Technical auditors have been trained to, and are prepared for the performance and documentation of an assurance assessment. One of the more difficult tasks associated with the process is the reporting processing, beginning with the identification of potential findings, to the final report containing the detailed findings and exective summary. In this session we will examine the forces facing the auditor in getting the findings accepted and implemented by the auditee. The scope of the session will include ongoing reporting, exit conferences, reporting, and subsequent issue followup.

The agenda for this session will include:

  • What constitutes a finding versus a comment
  • How detailed should your recommendation be
  • Customizing your finding to the technical, managerial, and executive audience
  • Managing the auditee’s expectations
  • Managing the behavioral aspects of criticism (findings)
  • Gaining acceptance of recommendations
  • Following up findings after the audit
